I went into his office after taking a break from my trip to Disneyland. I was going with my mom and sister. Of course, we put that on hold for a few hours once we got that phone call to go see Steven, and I went to meet him in his office… He offered me the job right then and there. He said, “Ariana, are you busy this summer?” Of course I knew what to say.
Age 12 to 13 is an interesting age to be immortalized in…. It was a really powerful role for a girl, where I got to save the day and have all this knowledge about computers.

Are ‘E.T.’ & ‘Poltergeist’ the same movie?

Spielberg himself noted the similarity in a June 1982 interview: “I think people lead lives where their deepest wish is that something would interrupt the mundane everyday routine,” he told Michael Verona. “And someone (or something) comes into their lives that disturbs everything, disrupts everything, makes them suddenly have to work at life and to live it [to the fullest] to survive.”

U.K. Trailer for ‘Adventures of Tintin’ Is Full of Just That— Adventure

The marketing campaign for Steven Spielberg’s presumed Oscar favorite ‘War Horse’ may have been going smoothly from the start, but the same can’t be said for Spielberg’s other holiday entry ‘The Adventures of Tintin.’ The initial trailers and posters for the motion-capture flick were a bit inscrutable thanks to some awkward dips into the uncanny valley and a source material mostly unknown to American audiences. Thankfully, things have changed for the better in this new UK trailer for ‘Tintin,’ which highlights an Indiana Jones-y spirit of adventure that Spielberg hasn’t shown since ‘Catch Me If You Can’ in 2002. Might this actually be completely awesome? It might! Watch ahead.

Be Brave: Presumed Oscar Frontrunner ‘War Horse’ Gets New, Emotional Trailer

“Be brave. Be brave. Be brave.” So says the awesomely named Benedict Cumberbatch toward the end of the newest trailer for ‘War Horse,’ a bit of marketing seemingly engineered to produce moist eyes and Oscar nominations. Steven Spielberg! World War I! Lush cinematography! John Williams-like music! Horses! In danger! The brave thing would be watching this at your cubicle, since you’ll likely start bawling before its over. Watch ahead.
